Tuesday, History 12-2/12-3

Today we completed the PowerPoint presentation on life in Russia from 1861-1916.  We spent some time discussing Father Gapon and Bloody Sunday, the October Manifesto and the 1906 Fundamental Laws (constitution).  I also issued Worksheet # 16 on Lenin.  Don't worry about completing the worksheet unless you wish to get ahead.  We discussed how the Fundamental Laws measured up to the promises in the October Manifesto but how it still was nevertheless a step in the right direction if constitutional rule was one's goal.

I also asked you to view the PPT the Russian political spectrum; here is the link: Russian Political Groups.  I made only the first two slides and past students made the others.  You should copy the political spectrum from Slide 2 into your notebook.  Also, please take the following notes on each party/group:

1. Party/group name
2. Leader (if there was one)
3. Three facts about the group (ex. what were their goals, their platform, and who made up their membership)

Please note: some are more important than others:

1) Social Democrats: Bolsheviks
2) Social Democrats: Mensheviks
3) Social Revolutionaries
4) Octobrists
5) Constitutional Democrats or, Cadets
"A river of blooddivides the Tsar from his people."

This promise stopped the revolution of 1905

Did the Constitution fall short of the promises?

Look at who got the most seats and then ask who they
represented, and what they were after.
