G/E Block: History 12-3/12-2

G Block: We started by reviewing the unit test.  I gave students their paragraphs to review.

G and E Block:  Please look at yesterday's post to access the 4-minute video on Lenin's New Economic Policy.  You should be aware of what about War Communism wasn't working and why Lenin had to take a step backwards in his implementation of Bolshevism.  You should not only be able to say why the NEP was a step backwards but you should also be able to say why Stalin thought it was so important to implement the 5-year plans.  In E Block we debriefed the economic study guide (table and definitions), G block should finish it for homework so we can review it together tomorrow.  We took a look at some of the DeMarco exercises, but you should all finish Chapter 2 (Ex 8-12) so that we can get into looking at Stalin in more detail.

We will soon be accessing the new Google Doc to summarize the Russia unit.  I asked students to start to think about creative ways to show their learning in this unit.  Here is an example:
A page from a sample "Revolution" comic book

Do you learn best when you can see the story as well as hear it? Hear is the Youtube link to the first of five segments of a good British documentary on the revolutions: Russian Revolution
