A/C Block: History 12-2/12-3

Today we started by looking at a sketchnote on the March Revolution.  We also looked at a passage in Howarth giving Rodzianko's plea to the Tsar for a change in government as things in the capital started to deteriorate.  We also read a passage that described the Bolsheviks' moves to gain power, first in the Petrograd Soviet (after saving the city from the Kornilov putch) and then in the November Revolution.  We also debriefed the study guide on the Provisional Government (#15); thinking of the political spectrum and where different groups live on it, helped us anticipate the level of their satisfaction with the state of affairs after the March Revolution.  Finally, I showed some slides from 1917 to highlight the main points we've been discussing.

I asked that you read DeMarco pp 40-47 (and do Ex # 3-8).  We'll be reading the rest of the chapter early in the week, so you may like to read ahead if you'll be busy/working.

Also, I asked those in C Block to complete study guide sheet #16 on Lenin (read Falk to find the answers).  On Monday, C Block will be watching the slam poetry presentation under the agreement that they will have to keep up with A Block - that will mean doing some reading Monday evening.
