Note that we added a "Big Picture" column to the left of the table |
Next, I introduced the beginning of a timeline that used the SPERMG acronym to examine the relationship between the must-know events of the unit. If you find you're getting confused with the number of events, making such a sheet might be good way to force you acknowledge which ones you know, and which ones you don't. Check the vocab terms on page 2 of Falk to get ideas about what might be good to add. Here is a screen shot to get you started:
Example of an integrated timeline |
We also debriefed DeMarco, pp 46-54 (Ex 6-12).
For homework, I ask that you begin DeMarco Chapter 4: pp. 56-61. Please do Ex 1-3, and then do the handout titled "The Impact of Industrialism and the 5-Year Plans, 1928-41." Next, try Ex #4. I originally asked that you also think about Ex 5, but you can feel free to leave it alone tonight.
NOTICE: The Unit One re-test covering Paris 1919 etc. will be on Wednesday, Oct 16 at 3:10 (not Tuesday as I announced this afternoon). To gain access to the re-write, students must bring evidence of the following prep work: a) an outline for the Versailles paragraph, b) short definitions (what/so-what?) for terms #1-16 on page 2 of Falk, and, a timeline with 15 key events of the era. Yes, I'm forcing you to do some extra studying before you attempt the test again. See me if you'd like help or have a question.
