Today we discussed climate. We defined it and then identified the difference between climate and weather. We also looked at climate zones and how they relate to the Tropics. We also discussed the patterns of climate in the Northern, versus the Southern Hemisphere and the way seasons relate to the calendar. We noted that our winter is "their" summer. Next, I demonstrated how to create a climate graph from a table of temperature and precipitation averages. We ended with students practicing the graphs. The most difficult part is choosing how to space out the numbers for temperature and precipitation up the sides of the graph. Next class we'll review for the exam (that will follow in the class after that). There is no homework except to study your notes. You may like to look at yesterday's Socials 8 post for a preview.
